Body temperature depends on several factors and the normal temperature of the human body is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. The hypothalamus and the autonomic nervous system keep the body at a normal frame of temperature. When the body heat rises, the condition is known as heat stress. There could be various reasons for heat stress such as extreme heat or the consumption of certain foods.
Causes of heat stress
If you have a thyroid disorder, it could be one factor which could increase body temperature. Also, if there is an infection, the temperature of the body can rise. If you spend time in direct sunlight or doing strenuous physical activity, it will also cause the temperature of the body to increase.
The consumption of oily, spicy or fried foods can also lead to heat stress. Arthritis and some neurological disorders can also affect the temperature of the body. Dehydration can also be a cause of heat stress.

- Cold foot bath: Take a bucket of water and add cold water and ice cubes to it. Immerse your feet for 20 minutes. You can also add any essential oil to the water. This will allow the temperature of the body to come down.
- Coconut water: Coconut water contains vitamins and minerals which will rehydrate the body and relieve you of heat stress.
- Certain foods which are high in water content such as strawberries, watermelon, cauliflower, cucumber, celery, etc are also great when it comes to keeping the body cool.
- You can also make a healthy smoothie with yogurt which is a wonderful cooling food.
- Peppermint: Peppermint has cooling properties. You can make iced peppermint tea and drink it to cool down the body heat.
